1st St Margarets Scout Group (known locally as ‘istmar’ from 1st St Margarets) is a thriving group of boys and girls with a committed and energetic leadership team of Leaders and parents. We were the first and still are the only Scout Group in St Margarets.
From our inauguration in 1919 to today, we have developed into one of the most popular and active in the UK. As well as taking part in district camps and activities, we have organised a wide variety of experiences ranging from a Kip on a Ship (HMS Belfast) to a fancy dress ascent of Richmond Hill for Red Nose Day!
We meet weekly on Wednesday evenings (during school terms):
Beavers: 6pm-7pm @ All Souls Church, North St Margarets
Cubs: 6pm-7.30pm @ St Stephen’s School Hall, Chertsey Road
Scouts: 7.30pm-9.15pm @ St Stephen’s School Hall, Chertsey Road
These times can be subject to change. We will email parents with any changes to timings/location.
We welcome boys and girls of all ethnic backgrounds and religious beliefs. Wherever possible, children with additional support needs are integrated into the group.
The Scout movement is organised into Districts. Our local District is Richmond upon Thames. The District organises camps to which all the groups are invited, as well as other activities, where there is an opportunity to meet Beavers, Cubs and Scouts from other areas.
